High school classes: Take a tour of Waitākere Dam
This is an exciting opportunity to tour one of the five western dams that provide 20 per cent of Auckland’s water supply. Students will learn where Auckland's water comes from, how it is treated and delivered to homes and schools. The 90-minute experience will help them understand the journey water takes - from sky to sea - and the importance of protecting our water sources.
Water education lessons
We offer fun, engaging, hands-on sessions for primary and intermediate students.
Schools across Auckland are making the most of our free education programme and learning about water, wastewater and their local environment.
Pupils can enjoy our programme through a lively session with our experienced teachers, or we can provide you with a range of comprehensive teaching resources including our ever-popular DIY Freshwater Detectives™ kit.
By giving students a deeper understanding of water quality and how to protect their waterways, we give children the tools and knowledge they need to become proactive community members when it comes to conserving water and improving our environment. They become our smallest water guardians and often make positive change happen in their home too.
