Project overview
We are making significant improvements to the Wellsford Wastewater Treatment Plant which will enhance the treatment process and better serve the growing community.
The upgrade involves installing advanced Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactors (MABR) and Membrane Bioreactors (MBR) at the plant. These new technologies use microorganisms to improve the nitrogen removal process, resulting in cleaner water being discharged into the Hoteo Awa and surrounding environment.
The project features a modular design that incorporates the plant’s existing infrastructure. This approach maximizes efficiency, reducing both cost and construction time. By minimizing the carbon footprint of new infrastructure, we’re also supporting sustainable development. The flexibility of this modular design allows us to easily scale up or adapt the plant to meet future demands and accommodate population growth.
How will these works affect you?
Work hours
- Will typically be from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday
Construction noise
- While the work may generate some noise, please be assured that it will be kept to a minimum and within the allowable consented levels
Traffic management plan in place
This plan is in place from 8 – 10 October
While the work will be carried out within the existing plant, there will be a temporary traffic management plan (TMP) in place including speed reductions near the site entrance at 1496 State Highway 1, Wellsford.
This TMP is in place while we undertake minor works on the access road to allow for safe entry and exit of the worksite. Once the works programme is confirmed this TMP will be extended until 2026. Please follow the directions of traffic management staff and signage.
