Alma Road and Shakespeare Road wastewater upgrades
We're installing new pipelines and connections along the local wastewater network.
Duration
2022 – late 2024
Location
Alma Road and Shakespeare Road, Milford
Status
Construction
Project overview
CCTV investigations have identified unaccounted for remedial work that was completed on the Shakespeare Road rising main over 25 years ago. At the time the pipeline was replaced with a smaller pressurised pipe from the top of Shakespeare Road to West Lake Girls College. Unfortunately, this has caused a bottle neck which is placing constant strain on the Alma Road pump station.
To remedy this issue our team will be working on Shakespeare Road to install additional pipelines and make new connections to the local wastewater network. We will also need to undertake works to upgrade the pumps at the Alma Road pump station allowing the asset to better cope with the increased flow of wastewater. Once complete, the network upgrades will cater for the growing population as well as help reduce the risk of wastewater overflows in Wairau Creek and neighbouring suburbs on the North Shore.
